Changes to the Employment Equity Report | Who should submit a report?

The purpose of the Employment Equity Report is to summarize the employers’ Equity Plan which enables the employer “to achieve reasonable progress towards Employment Equity”, assist in eliminating unfair discrimination in the workplace, and aims to achieve equitable representation of employees from designated groups by means of affirmative action measures.

Who should submit a report?

  • A person who employs 50 or more employees.
  • A person who employs less than 50 employees, but has a total annual turnover that is equal or above the applicable annual turnover in terms of the act, as stipulated below.
  • A municipality.
  • An organ of State. (The following exclusions apply: National Defense Force, National Intelligence Agency and the South African Secret Service.)
  • A designated employer bound by collective agreement in terms of the Labour Relations Act, to the extend provided for in the agreement.
