The Amended Codes of Good Practice were promulgated on 11 October 2013. All B-BBEE certificates issued on or after 01 May 2016 must be done in accordance with these new Codes. The same principle applies for Sector Codes, depending on the date of gazettement of the applicable Amended Sector Code.

B-Verified can issue certificates on the old Codes until 30 April 2016 only if the 12 month measurement period ends before 1 May 2015. For Sector Codes, this depends on the status of each of the individual Sectors and their Codes.

Kindly note that in order to earn points for Skills Development, the following documents should be submitted: Workplace Skills Plan, Annual Training Report and Pivotal Report (SETA approved). The implementation of the company’s Priority Skills Programme should also be up to date.

To qualify as an Empowering Supplier in terms of the new B-BBEE codes, companies need to comply with all South African regulatory requirements. Some of these Acts include: Employment Equity Act, Skills Development and Skills Development Levies Act. These Acts stipulate that annual reports should be submitted. Without submission of these reports, companies will not be able to earn points on their B-BBEE scorecard for Skills Development.  For example:

  • Employment Equity Reports (EEA2 – Employment Equity Report & EEA4 – Income Differentials Report) | Electronic submission deadline – 15 January 2016
  • Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) and Annual Training Report (ATR) | Submission deadline – 30 April 2016.
